Each is a unique product.

With a vision of Fair-trade practices and Fair job opportunities horn production has been done since 1985 by both women and men in workshops located in underserved areas of Kampala, capital of Uganda.

This particular variety of cow horn is a bi-product of food consumption and Africans have found a way to turn these once discarded items into beautiful and practical objects.

The outer layer of horn or shell, is separated from its inner material leaving only hollow horn. Each piece is sized and cut. The horn is then boiled, becoming malleable and is shaped in molds according to its end use. Once cooled, the horn hardens into its new shape. It is cleaned, extensively sanded and hand polished with wax and a polishing cloth. This intensive hand crafting yields a most beautiful and unique finished product.

These horn products are food safe.

We Ship Worldwide!

Most of our items are sent by USPS from New York City unless otherwise specified. Outside of the United States the cost of delivery calculated during checkout is based on weight of the package and its destination.

To determine the shipping options and charges available for your order, simply proceed to our Secure Checkout and enter a shipping address. Unfortunately we cannot currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. Territories.

Extra shipping and handling charges may be applied for heavy or delicate items that require special care. This cost will automatically be applied to your order at checkout.

You will be notified by email when your order has shipped and you can track the status of your order using the tracking number provided in the confirmation email.

What about duties, customs, and additional fees?

Please be aware that all orders shipping outside of the United States, no matter which shipping option is used, may be subject to additional duties, import taxes, or brokerage or customs fees upon delivery.

These fees are calculated by your local government customs officials and we cannot estimate them prior to shipment. While we take steps to minimize or eliminate the cost of importing for our customers, we are required by law to provide accurate information to customs officials. Marking an order as a 'Gift' will not prevent fees from being charged.

Delays in customs are becoming increasingly common. Final delivery may take longer to some international destinations due to border restrictions and potential holds at customs.

Unfortunately, we cannot control or prevent this type of delay. Please be sure to include a local telephone number and email where you can be reached when placing your order. We recommend checking with your local customs authorities in advance of ordering to determine your country's specific import requirements.
