Potina Flared Bowl with Stripes
Regular price $275This is a unique item.
Vuyisa “Elvis” Potina, a South African ceramic artist, owns and manages Potina Ceramics, his internationally known studio based in Franschhoek in the Western Cape.
When talking with Vuyisa Potina and asked about his approach to ceramics, he has said,
“To work with our hands is part of our culture”. Potina's Xhosa roots go back to the rural Eastern Cape. He blends the traditional smoke-firing techniques of his culture with a contemporary approach to form and function. "I prefer to let the natural colors and textures of the clay come to the fore, ensuring that my work remains original, exciting and sought after. I get inspired by nature and I love ethnic color. My products are influenced by my Xhosa background."
Traditional smoke-fired process can produce uneven glazing which is an integral part of this type of handmade ceramic.

Most of our items are sent by USPS from New York City unless otherwise specified. Outside of the United States the cost of delivery calculated during checkout is based on weight of the package and its destination.
To determine the shipping options and charges available for your order, simply proceed to our Secure Checkout and enter a shipping address. Unfortunately we cannot currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. Territories.
Extra shipping and handling charges may be applied for heavy or delicate items that require special care. This cost will automatically be applied to your order at checkout.
You will be notified by email when your order has shipped and you can track the status of your order using the tracking number provided in the confirmation email.
What about duties, customs, and additional fees?
Please be aware that all orders shipping outside of the United States, no matter which shipping option is used, may be subject to additional duties, import taxes, or brokerage or customs fees upon delivery.
These fees are calculated by your local government customs officials and we cannot estimate them prior to shipment. While we take steps to minimize or eliminate the cost of importing for our customers, we are required by law to provide accurate information to customs officials. Marking an order as a 'Gift' will not prevent fees from being charged.
Delays in customs are becoming increasingly common. Final delivery may take longer to some international destinations due to border restrictions and potential holds at customs.
Unfortunately, we cannot control or prevent this type of delay. Please be sure to include a local telephone number and email where you can be reached when placing your order. We recommend checking with your local customs authorities in advance of ordering to determine your country's specific import requirements.
