The Curious Tour - Proud Supporters of The Mdukatshani Craft Project
At The Curious Tour, we take great pride in carrying some of the most beautiful handcrafted gifts from all over Africa, and other parts of the world. We are particularly proud of our gifts made by extremely talented South African artisans, many of them rural women. These gifts, like all the others in our shop are an important support system to the Mdukatshani Craft Project. The project helps these creators become self-sufficient in harsher rural areas. By receiving fifty percent of the proceeds, these artisans are able to provide for themselves and their families. Let’s take a look at some of the wonderful creations.
Moonbasket Crocheted Clutch Bags
These beautiful, crocheted clutch bags are created by Moonbasket. Their products support a community project in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa. These bags are crocheted from hemp and the quality of the stitch work really shows off the talent of the Khayelitsha craftswomen.
Pedi Bangles in Vibrant Brights
This Pedi Bangle collection comes in eleven different stunning designs and the bangles are hand-beaded by the Pedi women in Limpopo. The expert beadwork and candy colors are the perfect addition to any outfit and make for lovely gifts.
These hemp crocheted trays are another creation by Moonbasket. They make for lovely centerpieces and serving platters. However, the vibrant colors and expert stitch work by women artisans make them beautiful display pieces by themselves.
